Iran to bolster tourism diplomacy with Malaysia

Iran is committed to expand bilateral relations with Malaysia in various fields, particularly in tourism, said its Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

In a statement ahead of Iran’s National Day on Feb 11, which marks the 43rd Anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, the embassy said senior officials of both countries have been looking into a number of opportunities to strengthen bilateral tourism between Malaysia and Iran.

It pointed out that tourism with cultural and comprehensive dimensions creates common understanding among nations and Asian integration is a source of more initiatives for creating a bright future.

“For about two decades, Malaysia has been a destination for Iranian tourists who want to enjoy a nice country and friendly people. Iranians who visited Malaysia acknowledge this country as a safe and developed country.

“Commonalties between Iran and Malaysia are important and positive elements for promoting and expanding tourism,” the statement read.

The embassy said the Iranian government has made concerted efforts to attract tourists to the various destinations in the country and arrivals have increased in recent years.
It said the tourism industry in the country is diverse, providing a range of activities from hiking and skiing in the Alborz and Zagros mountains, to beach holidays by the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea.

Culturally, Iran sustains a rich and lavish history and boasts one of the world’s oldest civilisations, the statement said.
