94.4% of Malaysia’s adult population fully vaccinated against Covid-19

Close to 95 percent of the adult population in the country have completed their Covid-19 vaccination as of yesterday.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow portal, 94.4 percent adult population, or 22,109,534 individuals, have completed their doses as of 11.59 pm yesterday.

The data also shared that 97.4 percent or 22,803,407 individuals have received the first dose.

As for the adolescents (age 12 to 17), 46.3 percent (or 1,456,265 individuals) have completed both doses, while 80.8 percent (or 2,540,794 individuals) have received at least one dose.

A total of 157,999 doses of the vaccine were dispensed yesterday, bringing the total number of doses administered under the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (NIP) to 48,831,214.

The data also showed that vaccination rate in Kelantan and Sabah are the lowest compared to other states, at 55.5 percent and 55.9 percent respectively.

In Kelantan, 1,057,314 individuals are fully vaccinated, with 107,073 individuals (5.6 percent) partially vaccinated.

The remaining 835,129 individuals (43.8 percent) are unvaccinated.

In Sabah, 2,183,935 individuals are fully vaccinated and 180,335 individuals (4.6 percent) are partially vaccinated. The remaining 2,004,151 individuals (51.3 percent) are unvaccinated.

Klang Valley reported the highest rate of vaccination at 86.7 per cent, followed by Penang (78.9), Negri Sembilan (76.7), Labuan (76.4), Perlis (73.7), Johor (72.6), Melaka (72.4), Sarawak (72.3), Perak (67.6), Kedah (66.4), Pahang (65.1) and Terengganu (63.2).

By Dec 15, the country is expected to have vaccinated 80 percent of its population.
